Chore Charts
I've been thinking about this lately as our family transitions into a new season of life–one in which our children can be doing more around the house to bring order to our home. After perusing some chore charts online, I made my own, and my husband and I introduced it to our children. While things still aren't perfect, the amount of daily chores being done by the kids has increased significantly, and they are taking more responsibility.
I debated adding a reward because I know the reward is a cleaner, more ordered home, but it is also fun for my little ones to work toward something tangible, like an extra show, a popsicle, or stickers. I'm not looking for perfection, just progress and effort.
I left spaces on the right for chores that need to be done during the week, but aren't specific to a certain day. This space also allows me to add in chores that are seasonal or needed that week–think cleaning out the car, changing sheets, sweeping the deck, etc.
My focus in this season is getting my children actively involved, teaching them simple tasks around the house so that they can be ready to take on bigger tasks in the future.
For a few people who have asked, here are some of the weekly chores that I am including:
I'm enjoying this new season with three little ones who are doing their best to help around the house. What a gift!
