Last year, we began creating a "Victory Garden" during Holy Week. I bought a small cactus arrangement from Trader Joe's, and we deconstructed it to make a little garden out of the base of a pot and a small planter. We happened to have mini Jesus figures (one my kids are pretending is John) and we made a small cross out of sticks and string.
Throughout Holy Week, my children rearrange the scene to match the events of Holy Week. First, Jesus walks in the Garden of Gethsemane, then He carries His Cross, He hangs on the Cross, and He is buried in the tomb. We place a large stone to cover the tomb until Easter morning, when the stone is rolled away, and Jesus is Risen!
We have enjoyed this activity, and I have found it to be a simple way for my kids to participate more fully in Holy Week!
